Re: ZU-EID - MAIN WHEEL FAILURE

Russel and Dave, Thanks again for the info. The firm that builded my tanks did not fit finger strainers. I also learned my lesson with silicon, which I used to seal the electric fuel flout on top of the tank. The petrol turn the silicon into a solt jelly that blocked the fuel filter. Luckily the whi...

Re: ZU-EID - MAIN WHEEL FAILURE

Thanks Russel and Dave, For the info and recommendations. Yes it is true ---- do not buy cheap. There is a saying in afrikaans "goedkoop is duurkoop". Luckily there was no damage, not even to the wheel spats. I will replace them with grove axles and wheels as soon as I saved the money. How do you ge...

ZU-EID - MAIN WHEEL FAILURE

This morning on my way to the Augrabies waterfalls my left main wheel broke off as soon as I started to taxi. As I apply brakes for a brake test the wheel just broke off. Think of what could have happend on landing or take off. I cannot remember when or even if I ever had a hard landing with ZU-EID....

Re: Fly-In 2010 24-27 April

All I want to say is that I owned a long wing Whisper, and is not prepared to swop my Express for any long wing Whisper. The Express is a better dual purpose aircraft, handles "lekker" on the ground, land on narrower landing strips, fits in a normal hanger, and the glide ratio is high enough to give...

Re: Fly-In 2010 24-27 April

My new trim tabs works 100%. Funny that it took me 150 hours of struggle before I realise to put in extra time to build the trim tabs.
With your and Russell's input ---it convinces me to tackle the problem.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Fly-In 2010 24-27 April

I am game for Gariep or Paradise. the leg is 30 min shorter from Springbok, and maybe the chances for good weather also better.
But I will go with the flow.

Re: ZU-ENN "Extreme Makeover"

Thanks Russell,
I will install aluminium tabs tomorrow and bend them till the ailerons feel right, and then make a pair with fibreglass If I fail to get them right I will ask you to make me a pair.
I think maybe my bellcrank needs adjustment too.

Re: ZU-ENN "Extreme Makeover"

Thanks Russel, I think I have work to do in the New Year. I do not want to hear a motor glider in the air, it must run dead silent. ZU-EID sounds like a VW with a broken exhaust.
