How succesful has Johan's "Motorboat Design" trim wheel been for trimming been as i am sure we can do better than the present bungee system.

Trim system

Postby ollie » Fri Jul 06, 2007 9:43 am

Hi Pete,
Did you ever get any feedback on an alternative trim mechanism? I thought the one in Gary's machine was hick. My wings are done and coming down next Friday to view etc.
Any news on the progress of your toy
John

The Whisper requires very little elevator trim. In ZSGXW I have the simple bungee system as shown above. During takeoff and slow speed flight including gliding it is set all the way back. During high speed cruise it is set all the way forward. I have never used any intermediate position. Yes one can install all manner of complicated systems but really they are not necessary. Come and fly GXW and I'll show you!
