Albert ........... very happy chap done 29 hours on new JAB ENGINE +- 4 hrs with no Jab engine.(loooong wiiiings)

Whisper ZU JWN was grounded on the 31st of Jan till end of March, hopefully she would fly again if her pilot recovers from his back opp(makeover)

Yes Peter I am alive and will hopefully be at Gariep if all is ok

Battlefields will be a nice 5 to 6 hours from PE, you could fly up the coast as far as the Tugela river in Northen Natal and then up the river to Battlefields

Wx has been mucky for the last 2 weeks with a lot of cloud about but no rain which has been dissapointing.

Congrads Albert. Good to hear from you after a long time. All being well ZU-OLY back in the air this week-end. Had its first test flight after repair but we had issues with CHT's and overall oil temp. CHT turned out to be faulty instrumentation and oil temp hopefully fixed by refitting airscoops on spinner. Hope to see all at Gariep.

ZUOLY back in the air but running a bit rich. Bing carb supposed to be self adjusting so refrainiing from using big hammer at this stage.

Fly up 24 April
Fly home 27 April

Gariep Dam airfield

Has 2 tar runways over 1000mt each
R50.00 per day airfield fees
FREE overnight hangarage for as many as we can fit in (hangars are BIG - used for 25mt wingspan sailplanes !!!)
There should be pure glider rides available, launched by aero tow (for a fee)
The chap who runs the airfield - Martin Lessle (said as Leslie) has offered us his 3 cars at very nominal rates - basically running costs only
There are no other car rental outlets that I know of if we need additional transport,
but most of the guest lodges will fetch & drop off
Martin has recommended the Parks Board Game Reserve & River Destiny Lodge or the local hotel for accom - I'm busy negotiating this now as block bookings, but don't know numbers yet

I want to arrange at least one nav-ex to a field / town within 150km for an away lunch and a bit of sightseeing.
The rest is up to us !!!
