I need to ensure that I'm on the right track :D

Would appreciate if the experienced builders out there can help me out in this regard: What are the bureaucratic steps required for a new build project and the sequence these should happen in?

* Get an AP to assist with your build
* CAA Build Number application
* Join EAA or AeroClub, which is needed, or none at all? Seems EAA is a lot of fun...
* Create a build log to log activities and hours. Is there a formal log or can one just to this on Excel?

Anything else required?
