Decided to have an optical scan done of the plug to check for symmetry. From the CAD drawings we had lasercut templates made which I used to apply filler to the low side. Now we have a symmetrical plug and CAD data for the hand shaped plug. The plug travelled to PB on Friday and will have the final finishing done before we make the moulds.

Had a little look at the plug today - I think Stewart is just busy touching up the last couple of bumps.  (and maybe inventing one or two of his own).

Here is a side view showing the difference between the motorglider and the X.
For inspiration Tony v Vliet took me for a sunset blast around the patch in his RV7 (0-360/fixed pitch). I have not flow this particular engine/prop/RV combination before and it is what I plan for the "X". RPM during initial takeoff roll =2100; Initial takeoff performance feels like a C172 BUT once you get through about 100kts the RPM builds and the engine starts to make decent power. At sealevel and 2500RPM TAS=155-160kts. Full throttle gives about 165-170kts. At 7000-8000 altitude he gets TAS=172kts.
Now how do we beat these numbers  :D

Hi Russel
Besides gathering some bux in a bank account, what else can I start getting together with a view of ordering the "x"?

maybe start hunting for a good lycoming 0-360. Aside from that and the bux perhaps clear out the garage!!! Also many of the parts on our whisper "spruce" list will be common (see web price list)...like wheels and brakes etc....before making any orders though lets have a chat :D

Plug shape has changed somewhat..........some of the curves removed and replaced with straight lines.....serious "in house" styling squabbles in full swing....

Comments please....... you like or you no like :?: :?:
