The design evolved a bit. The 120-140kt market segment already has a number of offerings. I decided to focus on the 150 plus market which is a bit thin apart from one major contender. Hopefully it was a good decision :D

Yesterday I expanded the speed envelope a bit more and got to 200MPH indicated. Small fixed tabs on the elevator and rudder now allow the aircraft to fly hands off at speed. Previously I had erratic rpm readings above 2400. Rainier told me to increase the size of the resistor and now all is well. I now know that the prop is too fine. I cannot go anyweher near WOT in level flight as the revs quickly hit 2700+. Throttled back to 2600 the EFIS is giving a TAS of 192MPH :D :D . Lots of throttle travel remains. I will soon try the Whirlwind ground adjustable prop and then should be able to go to WOT. I have no idea what the speed will go to yet.
The aircraft has a benign stall with a clean break at 63MPH indicated (clean). Handling is very very sweet and I am starting to make friends with this machine..... :)

The X will be on static display at the PE airshow this weekend. Cannot display it as proving flights not yet completed :(
Hoping to also have a basic kit on display...so if you're in the area come and take a look!

another pic taken at the PE Airshow.......notice the new rudder balance....works well and now also looks more like a Whisper :)

The original large unshielded rudder balance caused some fishtailing (particularly in turbulence). New shape has solved all of that :D
