We will have to run on Mogas unless we get Avgas at Plett or PE.
According to Jabiru Forum there is nothing wrong with Mogas as long as it is fresh?
If we get numbers we can get a house accordingly.

If you go to Avcom site Jabiru section there is a listing on Mogas/Avgas:

I have got just on 2000 hours on the jab motor only use 95 and have not had a problem. Remember fuel degrades with time, if you buy 95 octain fuel dont leave it in the plane for 6 months and still expect it to be 95. keep your fuel fresh.

Hi All

I hope everyone had a pleasant Easter

Firstly, Russell can organise Avgas - prior arrangement only
Mogas is readily available

And now for the best bit – flying !

Monday – Wednesday, do your own thing

Thursday
Morning briefing after Breakfast, at the field
At your own pace, a nav sight seeing tour of the area
Russell will provide co-ordinates for a flight of approx 300km / 2 hours
to enjoy the aerial splendour of the region.
The last leg of which will commence from a local peak, where you may switch off the engine.
The angle from the peak to the airfield is 1:28 – the same as the Whisper’s L/D
If this is started from 1500ft above the peak, and you arrive over the field at 1500 alt, your aerie is on spec.
If not, well, there’s work to be done!

Friday
EARLY morning arise & shine
En masse - coastal Breakfast Run to Plett
Catering is being organised
Return at leisure

After lunch, back in (at) Paradise, we’ll put our gliding skills to the test
1500 alt, perpendicular to the runway, over the target, cut engine
Turn through 180 deg & drop a flour bomb over said target
Complete a circuit & land on the target (flour cross hairs)
There’s a 1-off, custom made "Precision Flying" trophy as incentive, which will be presented at the beach braai

Saturday & Sunday – leisurely flight home

Please print & carry the following notice & observe the standing airfield rules therein

NOTICE TO PARADISE BEACH AIRFIELD USERS

To ensure the continued existence of this airfield the Airfield users in conjunction with the Paradise Beach Gliding Club have agreed to abide by the following local rules. Visiting pilots are requested to study and comply with the rules.

ALL AIRCRAFT
1) Circuit pattern for runway 26 is right hand.
2) Circuit pattern for runway 08 is left hand.
3) Circuits, departures, training, general flying and aerobatics must all be flown to the North of runway centreline (inland side).
4) Avoid the following areas, except for the purpose of circuit joining and landing:
• Residential areas of Paradise Beach, Aston Bay and Marina Martinique.
• The Seekoei estuary and conservation area.
5) Departures off Runway 08 must be flown with an early left turn out of approximately 45 deg so that the aircraft does not pass over the residential area at all.
6) Final approach for Runway 26 should be flown with as low a power setting as possible (preferably glide approach).
7) Avoid flight that disturbs the ostriches (farms just north of the field).

MICROLIGHTS
1) Circuit training at the airfield is not permitted.
2) No microlight flying earlier than:
• one hour after sunrise in winter
• two hours after sunrise in summer.
3) Arrivals at the airfield should be made from the North at a minimum altitude of 2000’ followed by a glide (power at idle) till touchdown.
4) All departures must include an early 90 deg turn out as soon as safely possible with routing towards the North. Power should be reduced as soon as safely possible.
5) All microlights must be fitted with silencers that at least meet the SACAA noise regulations BUT should preferably be fitted with the quietest dual silencer systems available and low noise propellors.

Cheers for now
Dave

I was at Paradise yesterday and spoke to Stuart about accommodation.
There is a house which can take 10 people which Estelle is organising???
As a suggestion............ we get this as "Base Camp" and anybody wanting anything fancier can go for local B & B of their choice.
Maybe Dave can follow up with Estelle or Stuart?

The proposal is that we organise a house that can take ± 10 people.Base Camp
Here the boys can have a shower etc. and those that want can stay there.
The overflow can stay at Fritz's B & B or sleep under the wings at the hangar or whatever turns them on............
Regarding Breakfasts the proposal is that Estelle handles the catering and she provides a Orange Juice and egg bacon type breakfast each day at the Field and then at night we go big and she provides braai or restaurant type supper where eat drink and be merry can be had by all.
How does that sound?

Please speak now or forever hold your tongues!!!!

Hi PeterB

The catering and accommodation, as per my earlier email, is already arranged - for those interested
Estelle has already committed to providing a tuck shop, breakfasts and light lunches
The Friday Fly In breakfast is at Stanley Island, in Plett - just been finalised
Check out www.stanleyisland.com

Dave
