Re: Simone Darne Whisper X project. WA13063
I hear you. I'm just waiting for a cash injection and then I'll bite the bullet as well.
Scary thought considering a new engine will be around $26 000!!

Re: Simone Darne Whisper X project. WA13063
Brilliant
600hrs is a lot of life still!
I'm going to try my utmost to buy a new engine, or at least at this stage my thinking is along this route.
Regrettably I've had a catastrophic engine failure in my Mooney when the crank shaft broke and in the forced lob the plane was written off. No one was injured, 4 on board, but if I never again have to go through such an event, it will be too soon
Saying that, I know there are no guarantees with mechanical objects, but I'll have great peace of mind in knowing I have a new donkey up front. Finances dictates, so when the time comes and this is not possible, I'll naturally opt for alternatives
I'm thinking of the XP IO-360 (180hp), which is mogas certified too. If I have the money, I'll go CS, alternatively FP.

gee wiz, Glad you came out of that alive!!! Yip if I had the bucks I too would have gone for something new! As per Russell 180hp is more than enough!
In the mean time we must get on with the build. Ill take a few more pics on the weekend.

Looking great.
I'm thinking hard about the pedals... Want to manufacture "infinately" adjustable, if that is the correct term, pedals.
Will post pics once I've started on them

Original whisper pedals were like that. I still have a set on the shelf!
