No I have not covered it yet as I need to shape the horn. I may do that tomorrow, but will only start the glass work next week.

I also need to shape that counter balance horn, worried about not getting it right... Will see what I can conjure up to make it as symmetric as possible as I do not trust my judgement that much

Good luck, have fun and do post a pick ;)

Hi Brett,

Have you had a chance to weight your rudder? I'm going to NZ for a while, but I'm going to try my utmost at completing my rudder before I leave. It will be great to close the rudder chapter before I go :D

Regards,

Pieter

We cut the elevator today. Took a lot of decision making where to make the cut. Thankfully Russell was close by to give advice. I did not want to start fiddling with the mass balance so it was a juggle in the end.

I have decided to insert the wing tie down points like Russell has done. I bought an M8 longnut, eye bolt and a counter sink bolt as in the picture. I then mounted it very carefully to the spar in line with the point where the aileron ends. I removed some foam under the spar cap as well so as to make the internal space bigger than the hole that the nut gets inserted into. We then wrapped roving on the nut and bolt and stuffed cotton flox into hole - full. Inserted the bolt and nut and we now have a very strong tie down point and a lekker handvatsel to carry the wing upright.
