AaHHH, I'll have to wait till I get home to see this clip

Fantastic news and a hearty congrats there Russell!

Share a little detail on IFH, like O-360 and Fixed Pitch set to what degree? How does this compare to GAB and what does it feel like to fly with the new canopy?

I'm very

Well done!!

IFH has a McCauley constant speed prop fitted to an 0-360.
I don't expect a better top speed but the climb is certainly good. Watching the clip and measuring in google earth it seems as if the takeoff roll was about 240m!
The prop comes with a weight penalty. IFH is 617kg empty versus 580kg for GAB.
New canopy looks nicer but didn't really notice much difference in flight but was probably distracted!
IFH has a dynafocal mount and GAB has a conical. The dynafocal is definitely smoother.

Hope to fly again this weekend :D

Wow, I never realized that the CS would add so much weight! That said, all that weight is in the nose. How did the 40 odd kg influence the CoG?

The 37kg penalty and cost associated with CS makes me wonder if I should persue this, especially if cruise speed is not going to benefit. At high altitude it may help, but without a turbo it does not make much sense to fly over FL085, except when crossing the Groot Swart Berge!!

Personally 400m TO is fine in my books and having more payload never hurts.

Thanks Russell, this gives me a lot to think about. I do like the new canopy better.

Such a lovely aircraft!

A grand picture!

I'm still amazed at how smooth and glossy the finish is on the Whispers.

What is your VSI saying about the CS?

Seems like http://www.facebook.com/whisperaircraft is seeing more traffic than this forum. Not all Whisper owners/builders are on Facebook though.

Here is a clip on youtube you might like to watch too;
