Sean Selkon's Whisper
Sean Selkon's Whisper
Dene is hard at work on this machine. It is looking very very neat!
Sean is installing an airmaster prop and some fancy avionics.
Dene is also managing to shoehorn the jab 6 cyl into the standard Whisper cowl. This is achieved by making a new exhaust.
Air and exhaust outlets will exit the cowling via 2 exit bumps ala Cirrus.
This should give the sleekest possible look.
This a/c will be based in JHB and judging by Sean's enthusiasm for things aviation it'll get around the sky a lot!

Here are a few more pics of Dene's access cover after it had been "faired in". It has since been primed and is ready for paint.
It seems that some healthy rivalry exists between this project (Selkon/Collette) and the (Irvine/Clegg) project. Both are being assembled between other work and hence are receiving those little extra touches not possible in a production environment. I have a feeling that when these 2 are parked side by side at an EAA judging contest the judges may have their work cut out for them!!
The other project can be viewed at http://www.whisperaircraft.com/forum/ph ... .php?t=428

Re: Dene Collett's work of art
Dene has been hard at work on this Whisper and has turned out a product i believe to be superior to any Factory Built Whisper at this stage.

oh and just in case you were wondering Dene has rigged the air scoops on top of the fuelage to be manually opened and closed and note the nice touch of anodised spoiler levers in blue with all the lights burning on the dash.....Man this aerie has all the bells and whistles with Efis 100 and Garmin DNS400.......

Re: Sean Selkon's Whisper
Thanks for the kind words Peter. As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. It isn't perfect but it's pretty good. At this stage the oil cooling system is all theoretical so I hope it all works as planned. It will be a hell of a job to change it if it doesn't cool properly. The EFIS went back to the states last week for repairs or replacement as it wasn't communicating with the remote compass module. If it hadn't been for that we would have had it at the airfield already. Hold thumbs and touch wood!
It was my intention to do the best work I possibly could in order to show what can be done with a little extra effort and thought into the task at hand. I will be offering this service as part of my business's regular offerings in the future
