Carnarvon Flyin.

Post by Johan Nortje » Fri May 19, 2006 9:55 am

Hi,
The First Custom build Whisper will attend the Carnarvon Flyin. Who wants to join me? I beleive that Warren is also going. Lets make it a first Whisper come together. There are already 4 Whispers Flying. Is it possible to get them all there. I am sure that Stewart will be able to fly one. --Johan

Hi Johan
Sounds like a good plan - we'll look into it!

Contact details is: Berdine Vos Tel: 082 552 3262. It seems that more than 90 people already book for the flyin, so it will be a nice big get together.

Carnarvon Fly in

We had two Whispers at the fly in
1) ZU-JWN from Springbok (John Nortje and Jannie de Kock)
2) ZS-GXW from Paradise Beach (Russell Phillips and Rob vd Merwe)

The fly in was great fun. If you want to find Carnarvon on the map just look for the most sparsely detailed part! Miles and miles of space in every direction.
The airfield is at 4100' so most aircraft were a bit sluggish on the uphill runway that was in use but the Whispers managed well. I did a number of displays and demo flights in GXW. Flying time from Paradise was 2.25hrs with a fuel burn of 32litres. Not bad for 228nm!

I'll post pics once I have them.

I like the go fatser stripes you have on that one. Helps break that usual glider vanilla colour.
