EAA 2009 FLY IN - BETHLEHEM AUG 28th

Post by whisper » Tue Aug 04, 2009 9:52 am

Albert came up with a fine idea of having a Whisper gathering at this event. The thread was started at http://www.whisperaircraft.com/forum/ph ... ?f=4&t=513 but it is probably best to have a separate thread for this - hence this new title.

So far Albert, Ollie, Dave and Peter have indicated that they will be there with their Whispers. I will also try and get my new one there provided I can get the hours done in time.

Peter has suggested that the East Cape guys set sail on the Friday morning (28th) from Paradise. Plan is to stop at Gariep and then on to Bethlehem.
Perhaps Western Capers who want to join this disorderly gaggle can spend Thursday night at Paradise or fly there early on Friday.

Jim is chaperoning us in his dainty little YAK18T and hopes to match our flight fuel bills during his taxi.

Sounds like fun.....please join us....it would be good to have a long line of Whispers at Bethlehem :D

Here is a list of accomodation at Bethlehem provided by the EAA.
The EAA organiser is pierre@raasa.co.za. I suggest emailing him and ask to be added to the mailing list regarding event details etc.

Bethlehem EAA & Air Show for our next Whisper Gathering

Bethlehem Air Show hosting the EAA this year and expecting 300 plus aircrafts - looks to be a perfect venue.
EAA will be over two days the 27th & 28th and the Air Show the 29th of August.
Being an ex member of the BHM FLYING CLUB, I will be able to arrange VIP treatment for all attending.

Camping in Bethlehem
Awaiting your response

Regards
Albert Willemse

Hey What Happened to VIP Treatment 8)
If possible i would like to sleep on a matress with a roof over my head.
I hear Bethlehem gets chilly at night

Maybe we should put some numbers together and see what he can do for us. I would prefer a bed but really dont mind camping either.
It would be Stuart, Tod Burns and myself in DEO. For those who dont know Tod - he is an ex - airline chap who is very into aviation photography so we should get some lekker shots. He took that great shot of Tony V Vliets new RV over Cape Receife (Avcom under Vans aircraft forum).

I have just spoken to Dawn at the "New Park Hotel" and she has given me a room for R400 a night which sleeps 2 (2single beds) and she will do breakfast for 2 in the morning all for 400 bucks!!
I booked for the friday and saturday nights.
You can contact Dawn on 058 303 5191 if you like as she has more rooms available.
The hotel is 5 kilos from the field so it is a nice walk!! :D

Copied from AVCOM:

"If you guys want to hire a car in Bethlehem - call Cornelia at 0583035255 (Bethlehem Delta). She can organise to have cars ferried to Bethlehem from Bloem. They are linked to Budget."
